In a few hours, we would be celebrating the new year. That is if some parts of the world are not already celebrating theirs. You know, different timezones and all of that geography. Before the year finally winds out, I wanted to do this.

It is that period when everyone sends one form of appreciation or the other to their loved ones, a season where “Anonymous” message templates fill the “Whatsapp” statuses. You know, to have a fill of what others think of us, even if we swear that we do not care what anyone thinks.

It is when we reminisce about all our experiences throughout the year. It is day 365/365, so the enormity of getting through that entire cycle hits us, and we have no choice but to be appreciative. Honestly, I have nothing against that. This is my final writing of the year, and I will get into my “God, I am Thankful” Spirit.

But in the past, I have never really cared about the new year. You know, all the “New Year, New Me” vibes and everything that comes with it. Tomorrow is just going to be Sunday. But this year, I fully understood the significance of witnessing another year's dawn.

That may be what Adulthood does to you; I would not know. All day, everyone has been in their feelings, you know, celebrating the gift of love, the gift of family, the gift of friendship, the gift of life, and just everything good. And Oh! I loved everything about it.

Everywhere, folks have celebrated their achievements, new milestones, new landmarks, and everything good that has come in the new year, and I am also not left behind, so I am joining with theirs and giving you a brief highlight of how my year went, and how I am going to be posturing for the new one.

I love the gift of life; I love all that uncertainty; life is just one gift that keeps giving. You never know what is going to happen next. In days, all your dreams and aspirations can come through, and a year from now, you could be living your dream reality, and this is what keeps me going.

This year has been a mix of everything for me. A year that has been filled with so many great moments. I laughed a lot, danced a lot, talked a lot, had many periods of doubt, and struggled even harder in many instances, but here I am, still grateful.

I ended a phase and moved into another; I moved to a new city, got a first career job, and battled for stability. I made mistakes, and I learned from them. But if anyone still asked me to rate the year, it was good.

There are many steps to be taken, and many dreams are waiting to lift off, but I love this ride because I know that I have got this and cannot wait for what this new year has in stock. So, I am grateful for the gift of life; I am grateful for family; I am thankful for love and the gift of a sound support system.

Without all of these, I think I would be in bigger shit, literally. All that aside, I am sure the new year will be good. I can feel it already, and I am so ready to rock it. All those trying periods and all, I do not want to be a part of it. So as well as I am rooting for myself, I am also rooting for you to get the best out of the new year.

In all sincerity, these are my wishes for the new year. I know many do not rate the position of luck, and hard work precedes many human discourses, but I would be hoping for more luck this new year. There are so many things to be done, and I hope I am better positioned to do more.

I hope my support system remains solid, and I can also do well to give support and be a soft place for my person. Because, as I have come to discover, I am not built for stress, so I am manifesting “Softness” all year round. In all, I sincerely hope all my dreams and aspirations come through, as do yours too. You deserve everything good.

So, my people here is to life, love, and everything in between. Cheers to the new year, and let’s keep rocking it. We have got this, people. So, just in case you feel down, I hope you know that everything will be fine and everything good will come.

Do not give up on yourself; you are a superstar. So go out there, and gift the world your uniqueness. I am so down for you showing us all that bundle of talent within you. I am rooting for myself, as well as for you too.

Love, Ayomaria.
